What She Wore// Katniss Cowl

Hey there!
I hope you are having a great Sunday, I know I am! The snow has finally melted here in the Ozarks. Here is an outfit I wore a few weeks ago when there was still snow on the ground...

I have to admit, I love this outfit! It's comfortable, cozy and a little bit edgy. You see that cowl? Mom made it for my birthday from an old sweater. She's quit the seamstress! If you're a Hunger Games fan, you'll know that it's a Katniss cowl. It's so cozy and super warm. And not to mention, the color is awesome!

You should see the looks I get when I wear this outfit. Some people just stare, thinking,"What in the world is that girl wearing?". Others smile and nod because they know. Although not everyone may like it, I do and that's all that counts, right?

Looking at this picture, all I can hear is Katy Perry's "Roar".
In case you didn't already know, I'm crazy :)

-What She Wore-
striped shirt: gift
cowl: gift
jeans: Walmart $13
combat boots: Army Navy Surplus $30

What do you think?

Do you have a favorite outfit or item that may not necessarily be "in", but you still love it?
Don't worry about what others think, because the haters will just keep on hating!

What She Wore// The Sojourner

Hey There!
We hope you enjoyed our Thrift Haul Video! Here's an outfit Hagen put together using some of her new pieces...

She calls it 'The Sojourner'. It's a comfy, yet durable outfit. With her Vans and backpack, she's ready for an adventure! I love the denim heart knee patch. It's actually covering up a rip from when I fell while skateboarding down a hill :) I guess you have to get creative with hand-me-downs!

You might recognize this printed headband from the video. We forgot to mention that it was $1. Not bad for a cute accessory, eh? I fixed Hagen's hair in a quick and simple boho do.

 -What She Wore-
skinny jeans- hand-me-downs
top- thrifted $3
gray tank- from a friend
Vans- Shoe Carnival $45
backpack- Walmart $18
headband- thrifted $1

I think it's a pretty stinkin' cute outfit, what about you?

Layla

What She Wore | Spring Is In The Air...

Hello everyone! Today I am going to share with you a super cute outfit styled by my super cute sister, Hagen! I love this relaxed boho look... and do you know what's funny? Almost all of these pieces were given to her by a friend, just at different times! Not to mention, this said friend has excellent style! I love the way Hagen put everything together to make this outfit that is ready for spring!

Her top was one of those open-shouldered tops, but she sewed up the shoulders to make it more modest!

-What She Wore-
tribal top: Day Trip- from a friend
gray tank: from a friend
skinny jeans: Old Navy $8
shoes: Vans- from a friend
bag: from a friend
hair: fishtail braid

Are you ready for spring? I know we are! The weather here has been gorgeous, the last few piles of snow are melting, and there are buds on the trees. Spring is in the air! Hope you have had a productive week, I can say without a doubt that we have!

Layla

The Four Seasons

Hello lovelies!
I think every girl needs at least one good, classic, pleated skirt in her wardrobe, don't you? And it can be a challenge to find different ways to style it through out the year, right? Here is a Polyvore set I created showing four ways I would style one skirt!

The Four Seasons by blesseddamsel featuring mixed metals jewelry

The Four Seasons

Winter- I love how red pops in the cold winter months, so I chose a nice, bulky red sweater. I also paired gray tights with black velvet pumps. Class it up with some pearl earrings, bright red lips, and a silver clutch. Make your hair into a classy updo, and you're all set for a Christmas party!

Spring- Spring is all about flowers, so I paired the skirt with a floral, peter pan collared top and a belt of contrasting color. Oh, and I love those high heeled Oxfords! Just a simple, floral bracelet as an accessory and a nice big hat. You can always throw on some tights for those chilly, Spring days! The perfect outfit for going on a stroll and letting your hair blow in the breeze!

Summer- For those blistering hot days where you just wanna jump in the pool, I'm keeping this outfit simple! A thin striped shirt and some strappy sandals go good with the skirt. Add an anchor necklace for nautical flair and a big beach bag for those trips to the shore! Put your hair up in a bun to keep you cool, and a headband or even a bow for cuteness!

Fall- When the leaves are changing, I like to mimic those beautiful colors in my outfits. A mustard sweater and flat leather boots with boot cuffs looks nice. You can always toss on some tights for those breezy, Fall days! A leather messenger bag is great for carrying all your books for class, and doing your hair in a cute, simple braid is an easy way to add more depth to your outfit!

I hope this gives you some inspiration for the seasons to come! I personally can't wait until all this arctic weather is done with and I can wear skirts again! Oh, how I miss them...

What was your favorite outfit? How would you style the skirt?
Love From,
Layla

What She Wore// Grey Sweater

I hope you are enjoying all of these fashion posts. We have accumulated quite a bit of pictures that need posting...

Today is Hagen's turn. As I said in this post, I just love her!

I'm sure you have noticed that she is an excellent photographer, and that I am not! But she is so photogenic that I think it makes up for my anti-photographer-ness (is that even a word?).

grey sweater // from a friend, by Old Navy

What She Wore// Patterned Skirt

Have you ever met one of those people who are always smiling, no matter what is happening in life? No matter if they are sad on the inside? They keep on smiling, even when it's raining?

Well, I have. And I am proud to say that one of those people is my sister!

This girl brings her own sunshine wherever she goes! Love and Grace shine through her deep, brown eyes...

She knows how to keep things simple and cute! She doesn't get caught up in petty things, like the latest fashion, what's hot and what's not... She has her own style and I love it! Don't you?

-What She Wore-
shirt: Aeropostle (hand-me-down)
skirt: Old Navy dress turned to skirt (from a friend)

What's not to love?
I am so blessed to have Hagen as my sister and best friend!
Love ya,

Summer's End {an oufit & poem}

Well, if you haven't noticed, Summer has left us. She has packed her bags and traveled to another country. Yes, I was so sad to see her leave, but she brought a new friend with her! Autumn is her name. This outfit was my last attempt to keep Summer from going, but alas, Autumn brought the chilly breeze. Below is a poem I wrote...

Summer, my friend, where are you going?
Was it something I said?
Don't you remember the things we did?
The smell of flowers in our noses,
the sweltering heat
and sand in our toes?

Summer, dear Summer, why won't you stay?
Do you really have to pack your bags
and go away?
Why, who is this?
Your friend, Autumn, you say?
She seems nice,
I'm not so sure about her, though...
She smells like cinnamon and pumpkin spice,
aromas that tickle my nose.

Nice to meet you, Autumn.
How do you do?
What's that, you want to play?
Climb trees, eat apples
and jump in a pile of leaves?
Okay!

Thank you Summer, for introducing me to your friend.
We're having lots of fun!
Wearing sweaters and scarves,
sitting on benches
and running through parks.

Well, Summer, I think I'll be fine...
I will pass the time with this new friend of mine.
Autumn holds my hand as I cry and wave "good-bye!"
Part of me is still sad to see you go...
Oh, how I will miss you so!
But I'm glad I won't be alone
as I wait for your return.
Summer, you will always be in my heart!

I have come to terms with the leaving of Summer and welcomed Autumn with open arms. It will be full-blown Fall posts from here on out!
 With Love,
 Layla

What She Wore Wednesday ~ Boho Guest

This Wednesday we are doing something new.
At church this past Sunday, a friend was wearing an adorable outfit, and since we don't have anything new to share, we are posting Haley.

I was so excited to be able to take pictures of her, it was like a little mini photo-shoot!
It was also very easy to take pictures of her because she was so good at posing...

Her outfit is a boho style and it is very sophisticated.

Her white sandals are very cute, and I think her nail polish almost matches the floral print on her dress.

Haley's vintage-y jewelry adds a lot of depth to the outfit, and her necklace watch actually ticks and tells you the time...

Also, the earrings are simple but stylish and I love the shrug she paired with this dress. And, I almost forgot, I adore her large bun!

Haley said that she loves to buy clothes from different stores and piece them together. That's one thing that makes shopping fun, right? She also mentioned that making outfits is one of her hobbies. It makes me happy that she is dressing modestly as she is being a fashionista... ;)

Haley asked me not to post all the prices to this outfit because it is not one of her thriftiest ones. But you can still know where she got it. :)

~What She Wore~

Dress: Sears
Shrug: Kohls
Shoes: Payless
Necklace & Ring: Hobby Lobby
Earrings: Wal-mart

I'll give you an idea of the price,
it is more than $25. That's all I can say... :)

Well, I hope you liked seeing a new face! It was very enjoyable for me to be able to post something new for y'all!
What are your thoughts on this boho outfit?

Blessings, Hagen
(And Layla, because I always ask her advice on what I should say...)

What She Wore Wednesday~ Sunday Best

Hello Lovelies!
A quick apology: I intended for this post to be up already, but apparently the internet thought otherwise. ;)

Tonight's post features outfits from a few weeks ago, which we wore to church.

Hagen wore a blue floral shirt, striped skirt and black bow flats.
I love how she hiked up her skirt to make it high-waisted! I think it suites her. You can't really see the pattern of her shirt very well in this picture.

If you look closely, you can see the flowers on her shirt. I love the floral and stripe pattern play!

This is a lovely shot of her, don't you think?
~What She Wore~
shirt- from a friend $0
tank- walmart $3
skirt- made by her $0
shoes- from a friend $0
hair clip- homemade $0

Only 3 bucks? That makes this outfit even cuter!

I tried my hand at the boho style. I wore a simple black dress, strappy sandals, and a headband.
I tend to twiddle my fingers when I am having my picture taken...

Oh yes, how could I forget, I also wore my favorite feather earring which Hagen made from our own duck!

Look out, this boho hobo needs a ride!
~What She Wore~
dress- Ross $7
shoes- walmart $10
headband- made by me $0
earring- Christmas gift $0

Well, 17 bucks isn't too bad, right?

I hope you enjoyed seeing these outfits as much as we enjoyed wearing them!
Blessings,
Layla
