Sunday Style// Floral Dress

Hello Lovelies!
I'm going to share an outfit post with you that is way over due. With Summer here and lots of work to be done outside, we don't really dress up much, except for church. Here's an adorable outfit Hagen put together a few weeks ago...

I really love this outfit, not only because it was pieced together cheaply, but also for the way everything complements each other. The neutral tones of the shrug and sandals counter the pop of the maroon flowers. And not to mention, it's modest!

dress: thrifted $8
shrug: from a friend
tank: hand-me-down
sandals: Wal-mart $10

Isn't my sister a beauty? She turned 15 last week (I can't believe it!), which I will be posting next. I hope your Summer is going great!
God's blessings over you,
Layla

What She Wore// Grey Sweater

I hope you are enjoying all of these fashion posts. We have accumulated quite a bit of pictures that need posting...

Today is Hagen's turn. As I said in this post, I just love her!

I'm sure you have noticed that she is an excellent photographer, and that I am not! But she is so photogenic that I think it makes up for my anti-photographer-ness (is that even a word?).

purple tank // Walmart ($3)
grey sweater // from a friend, by Old Navy
skinny jeans // Old Navy ($9)

The most expensive item in this outfit are the high-tops, of course!

Look at those dimples!
It is cold and snowy here, so we are cooped up inside... Look out for more posts!

What She Wore// Patterned Skirt

Have you ever met one of those people who are always smiling, no matter what is happening in life? No matter if they are sad on the inside? They keep on smiling, even when it's raining?

Well, I have. And I am proud to say that one of those people is my sister!

This girl brings her own sunshine wherever she goes! Love and Grace shine through her deep, brown eyes...

She knows how to keep things simple and cute! She doesn't get caught up in petty things, like the latest fashion, what's hot and what's not... She has her own style and I love it! Don't you?

-What She Wore-
shirt: Aeropostle (hand-me-down)
skirt: Old Navy dress turned to skirt (from a friend)

What's not to love?
I am so blessed to have Hagen as my sister and best friend!
Love ya,
Layla

What She Wore Wednesday~ Sunday Best

Hello Lovelies!
A quick apology: I intended for this post to be up already, but apparently the internet thought otherwise. ;)

Tonight's post features outfits from a few weeks ago, which we wore to church.

Hagen wore a blue floral shirt, striped skirt and black bow flats.
I love how she hiked up her skirt to make it high-waisted! I think it suites her. You can't really see the pattern of her shirt very well in this picture.

If you look closely, you can see the flowers on her shirt. I love the floral and stripe pattern play!

This is a lovely shot of her, don't you think?
~What She Wore~

tank- walmart $3
skirt- made by her $0
shoes- from a friend $0
hair clip- homemade $0

Only 3 bucks? That makes this outfit even cuter!

I tried my hand at the boho style. I wore a simple black dress, strappy sandals, and a headband.
I tend to twiddle my fingers when I am having my picture taken...

Oh yes, how could I forget, I also wore my favorite feather earring which Hagen made from our own duck!

Look out, this boho hobo needs a ride!
~What She Wore~
dress- Ross $7
shoes- walmart $10
headband- made by me $0
earring- Christmas gift $0

Well, 17 bucks isn't too bad, right?

I hope you enjoyed seeing these outfits as much as we enjoyed wearing them!
Blessings,
Layla

What She Wore Wednesday- Maxi's

I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to make sure I posted about our Easter celebration before I moved on to the fashion!

On Sunday, Hagen and I both wore maxi's. I'll start off with Hagen's...

Hagen wore a green printed maxi dress, sequined shrug, brown flats and wooden bead necklace. I love how everything flows together!

This picture was taken outside of the cowboy church we visited on Sunday.

I really like this picture. It looks like she's a jungle princess! This is outside the Mexican Restaurant.

green tank- thrifted $2

 Now it's my turn...
I wore a maxi skirt, a deep purple tank, tan crocheted shrug and roman sandals.

The maxi skirt is actually a funny story...
I was kinda stressing out about what I was going to wear for Easter, when Hagen dug out a maxi dress that neither of us have worn in a while. I was excited! When I went to try it on, I found that the zipper was stuck, and refused to budge. We all took turns yanking and prying on it, but that just made it worse! So, I resolved to turn it into a skirt.

I pulled out the sewing machine, and went through my mental checklist:
thread- check
bobbin thread- check
foot pedal- check
iron- check
elastic- check
pins- wait, where are the pins?

We searched and searched, but alas, no pins! I had to improvise. I ironed my seam down well, and used a few bobby pins to secure the fabric. It was a simple alteration, once I was able to do it. All in all, I was pleased with how it turned out!

~What I Wore~

tank- Target $2.50

I hope you enjoyed this post. I am happy to be doing another What She Wore, it has been too long! And one more quick picture of us...

Praying that you are having a good week!
Blessings,
Layla <3

What She Wore Wednesday- {Rustic&Chic}

Hey There!
How have you been?
I am doing good, thanks for asking!

So, this weeks Wednesday post is not going to be what I wore, instead it will be what I wish I could wear!

This is my dream boho outfit, it is exactly what I envision! I love each of the items, I think they bring just the right balance of rustic and chic. What do you think?

Rustic&ChicRustic&Chic by blesseddamsel featuring free people skirt

I love skirt and the flowy top together. I really like the leather bag with the bit of crochet, it's rough meets dainty.

What are your favorite elements in this outfit?
Do you like the boho style?

I hope you enjoyed this twist to our usual Wednesday post!
Blessings,
Layla

Layla's #19

So...
I am going to make a post...
about Layla's Birthday....
that took place a week ago...

I know...
I am terrible, not posting about it until now.

But... She sure had a good one! :)

So, first of she won a mini photo shoot from our friend, who is also our dads boss's daughter...
The shoot just happened to take place on her birthday!

This is one of my favorites!

Rejoicing In Life Photography

Of course we ate cake...
Well... it was more like brownies.

I chopped up some almonds and
 sprinkled them on top....

I also made some blueberry syrup to pore on top.

 I have a confession....
I tried to arrange the candles on the cake into the shape of the # 19...
but...uh..huh...
Well I messed up and it looked like I.P. not 19.

Okay... so I made a backwards nine.
Maybe it could be I.P. for Important Person?
Layla is very important! :)

She opened presents...

Mom made her an adorable bubble skirt.
Matilda made Paper dolls and
a paper house to go with them.
I made a guitar strap cover, but I felt really bad because it did not fit over her strap! :(
So now she uses it as a headband....
Gabe made her a wood burning.
Oh, and a few friends sent her a package that included, many cards, a coffee thermos, pressed flowers and many other things!

 Her birthday skirt...

It's cute cuz mama made it....
You know it!

 Layla's coffee... excuse me...Tea thermos.
She is against coffee... ;)

~ Layla ~

You are Lovely, Awesome, full of laughter, loving, best big sister EVER!!
Thank you for being such a good example to me.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

A world without you
is like a night without a moon...
I know, pretty cheesy, right? :)

Layla is awesome. period.

Blessings~ Hagen

What She Wore Wednesdays- Crochet Shrug

 Hello Y'all!
Now it's Hagen's turn to show off her feminine side...

I love how she paired this shrug with the long sleeved shirt. It's actually funny, she was just playing around with my clothes, slipped it on over her shirt, and said "How does this look?"
I said ((GASP)) "That is actually really cute! How come we didn't think of that before?"

The length of this jean skirt wasn't quite right, it cut her off at the wrong spot. So, she hemmed it and gave it a classic thick hem. It's much better now!

-What She Wore-
shirt: Wal-mart $3
crochet shrug: from a friend $0
skirt: from a friend $0

Such a cute outfit for only 3 bucks... really?
We obviously have some good (and cute) friends!

Hoping you are having a wonderful Wednesday! We are looking forward to doing an extra long I <3 Thursdays post tomorrow. See ya then!

Layla

What She Wore Wednesdays- Wool Skirt

Hello friends!
I know today is Saturday, and you are probably bummed that we didn't do a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday post. I was on the truck with Dad this week and yesterday was my birthday, is that a good enough excuse? No, you say? Well, I am going to try to make it up to you and catch up on those posts....

This week we did pictures on the tracks again... it's so much fun!

Hagen went vintage with a really old wool skirt, a stripped button-up, flats, and curly hair!

A close-up on her shirt. I love the floral fabric on the cuffs.

Showing off her button bracelet she got for Christmas from her sweet friend.

-What She Wore-
wool skirt: from a friend $0
button-up: from a friend $0

Now, I promise I will get you all caught up on the happenings around here, and maybe even do a little extra posting, to make it up to you...

Until next time...
Blessings,
Layla
