Life// A Tea Party

Earlier this year, August 23rd to be exact, we threw a late birthday tea party for Hagen. It was so much fun! We decorated the barn with crocheted garlands, heart streamers, wild flowers and lights. We baked delicious little finger foods and brewed different teas.

After the party, we visited some antique shops. Hagen loves vintage hats!

We came back to the house and had a water balloon fight, played in the sprinkler,
and laid out in the sun.

All of the girls we invited are musically talented and Hagen asked them to bring their instruments. So, to end the day we played some music, which was beautiful with all the lovely voices!

It was a great day, spent with wonderful friends. Like I always say, life is a party... a tea party that is!
Much love,
Layla

Crossing the Creek

Hello friends!
Last Thursday, we went over to our friends house to visit. We hadn't visited with them since before Winter, so it was nice to be able to walk around their land, enjoy the breeze and laugh together! All the snow has finally melted, causing the streams to flow.

As we came upon a stream, we each took turns carefully walking across the slippery log. The braver ones went first, and then stretched out their hands to help the others cross. Those who had not yet crossed encouraged those who were carefully crossing by cheering them on and saying, "Come on, you can do it!"

As we waited our turns to cross the creek, we watched this small act of kindness unfold. It reminds us of the way we are to help one another in life. Either by reaching our hands out to help them get through what we have already experienced, or by speaking words of encouragement and prayer to help them on.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be over powered by another, two can withstand him. And a three-strand cord is not quickly broken."

1 John 3:16- "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers."

These verses are a great reminder of how important it is to be there for one another, to have strong, God-fearing friends that can help each other cross life's small creeks and roaring rivers.

Words of Wisdom from our mama: Often, the evil one will lie to us (he is the father of lies), and tell us we are independent, we can do it on our own, and sometimes, we believe him. But Our Father`s word is clear, we need each other. We need to pray for others, so that we can help them, come along side them, but also to keep us from becoming self- absorbed. We do need others to pray for us, to encourage us, but when we lift each other up, we build up the Body.

So, why not text, e-mail, call or write a friend a letter today, giving them the Lord`s word, and your Christian love? Pray that The Lord would lay someone on your heart, and give you the words He would have you speak. It is a simple act, but we may never know this side of heaven just how touching and profound it can be for someone else we love.
Love from,
Layla & Hagen

What She Wore Wednesday ~ Boho Guest

This Wednesday we are doing something new.
At church this past Sunday, a friend was wearing an adorable outfit, and since we don't have anything new to share, we are posting Haley.

I was so excited to be able to take pictures of her, it was like a little mini photo-shoot!
It was also very easy to take pictures of her because she was so good at posing...

Her outfit is a boho style and it is very sophisticated.

Her white sandals are very cute, and I think her nail polish almost matches the floral print on her dress.

Haley's vintage-y jewelry adds a lot of depth to the outfit, and her necklace watch actually ticks and tells you the time...

Also, the earrings are simple but stylish and I love the shrug she paired with this dress. And, I almost forgot, I adore her large bun!

Haley said that she loves to buy clothes from different stores and piece them together. That's one thing that makes shopping fun, right? She also mentioned that making outfits is one of her hobbies. It makes me happy that she is dressing modestly as she is being a fashionista... ;)

Haley asked me not to post all the prices to this outfit because it is not one of her thriftiest ones. But you can still know where she got it. :)

~What She Wore~

Dress: Sears
Shrug: Kohls
Shoes: Payless
Necklace & Ring: Hobby Lobby
Earrings: Wal-mart

I'll give you an idea of the price,
it is more than $25. That's all I can say... :)

Well, I hope you liked seeing a new face! It was very enjoyable for me to be able to post something new for y'all!
What are your thoughts on this boho outfit?

Blessings, Hagen
(And Layla, because I always ask her advice on what I should say...)

Happy Wednesday y'all!

So, today I went to town with mama...
And she was able to get my pics for me while we were out! :)
We were just in time for the golden hour!

I wore (dare I say it) a pair of jeans... My favorite pair by the way! ;)
A grey shirt, a lacy scarf that my beautiful friend made. My jean jacket and a pair of flats...

I really like this outfit! It is modest, cute and SO my style. :)

My hair was wavy because I had it in braids, I love the effect...
P.S. Do you notice anything different about me in this picture?

When I wear pants I usually wear a size to big.
Especially since jeans are made so tight now...:(

Year 2012 overview

Since it is now 2013, I thought I might do an overview of last year. I will speak mostly in pictures. :)

80's Day!

 Fishing...
This was one of few fish we caught last year.

Painting the living room. Now it is the dining room.

Just woke up from her nap! :)

 Oh, how I miss them...

I will warn you. The next image is a pic of chicken feet. Unattached, of course.

Yep... this was our very first chicken to butcher.

This was when I first got my braces. You can tell how my teeth didn't quite fit right....

 Anniversary!

You wanna  know what happened next?

We took a trip to Charleston, S.C.

And of course we went to the beach!

Our mama goat, Bell, had her baby's!

 I started my photography!

We started the The Great Skirt Challenge!

We tore the carpet off our stairs and painted them.

 We got rabbits!

  Layla bought her first gun...

We started building the Hoop House.

Mom painted the fruits of the spirit on our stairs.

We went shooting with some friends!

We made lots of apple, sauce and juice.

Layla went to the Campbell's. She posted about it here. She had lots of fun, she even spent Thanksgiving with them!

Then, I got a cat! Mimzie is her name.
Mom got a dog! Charlie is his name.

 Layla came home!

 More baby rabbits were born.
 We started decorating for Christmas!

So... That was last year, all rapped up for you!

 Happy New Year!
Blessings, Hagen
