Morena// The One with Chestnut Hair

Hello friends! Did I ever tell you that I love cosplays, make-up, dress-up and special effects? Well, I do! A while back ( about 2 months, actually), Hagen let me play around with her a bit. I just let my creativity flow, and this is what I came up with...

I called her Morena, which means The One with Chestnut Hair. She was an Elvish Princess and Guardian over all things Pure.
Maybe I shall write about her story one day... maybe.
Love from,
Layla

What She Wore | Spring Is In The Air...

Hello everyone! Today I am going to share with you a super cute outfit styled by my super cute sister, Hagen! I love this relaxed boho look... and do you know what's funny? Almost all of these pieces were given to her by a friend, just at different times! Not to mention, this said friend has excellent style! I love the way Hagen put everything together to make this outfit that is ready for spring!

Her top was one of those open-shouldered tops, but she sewed up the shoulders to make it more modest!

What She Wore// Patterned Skirt

Have you ever met one of those people who are always smiling, no matter what is happening in life? No matter if they are sad on the inside? They keep on smiling, even when it's raining?

Well, I have. And I am proud to say that one of those people is my sister!

This girl brings her own sunshine wherever she goes! Love and Grace shine through her deep, brown eyes...

She knows how to keep things simple and cute! She doesn't get caught up in petty things, like the latest fashion, what's hot and what's not... She has her own style and I love it! Don't you?

-What She Wore-
shirt: Aeropostle (hand-me-down)
skirt: Old Navy dress turned to skirt (from a friend)
shoes: Vans (from a friend)

What's not to love?
I am so blessed to have Hagen as my sister and best friend!
Love ya,

What She Wore Wednesday ~ Turquoise Dress

This fine Wednesday features Layla in a cute turquoise dress that she wore to church this past Sunday.

She looks so cute in this dress! The ruffles and pleats make it not so simple, but it's not too busy.

We took the picture at the beach as you can see... :)

I know this picture isn't very good, (it was getting dark), but this is her complete outfit that she wore to church... Shoes, hair clip and all...

~What She Wore~

Dress: hand-me-down (from our aunt) $0
Tank: Target $3
Hair clip: homemade $0
 Shoes: wal-mart $10

Thirteen dollar outfit, seriously? That's cheap!

So, how did you like it?
And by the way, sorry it's so late and I am just now posting this. Internet again...

Well, I best be going... We are about to enjoy some coconut macaroons. Layla will post the recipe soon... (Just to excite your taste buds...)
Blessings,
Hagen

Video Friday {No. 6}

Happy Friday, Everyone!
Today we are going to share a short little video of one of our favorite creatures, the Coquina Clam.

We love watching these little creatures dig down into the sand. I am always amazed at how strong God made them! Each time a wave sweeps over, the clam burrows itself quickly into the sand, out of danger.

Coquina clam shells come in a rainbow of colors, varying from pinkish-purple to creamy yellow. Most of the time, the inside of the shell is the prettiest! I think the Coquina Clam is a good reminder of ourselves... even though sometimes we may not feel pretty on the outside, we must remember that God is our creator, and has made us in the likeness of His image!

We hope you enjoy this little creature and reminder as much as we do!
Blessings,
Layla & Hagen

What She Wore Wednesday~ Sunday Best

Hello Lovelies!
A quick apology: I intended for this post to be up already, but apparently the internet thought otherwise. ;)

Tonight's post features outfits from a few weeks ago, which we wore to church.

Hagen wore a blue floral shirt, striped skirt and black bow flats.
I love how she hiked up her skirt to make it high-waisted! I think it suites her. You can't really see the pattern of her shirt very well in this picture.

If you look closely, you can see the flowers on her shirt. I love the floral and stripe pattern play!

This is a lovely shot of her, don't you think?
~What She Wore~
shirt- from a friend $0
tank- walmart $3
skirt- made by her $0
shoes- from a friend $0
hair clip- homemade $0

Only 3 bucks? That makes this outfit even cuter!

I tried my hand at the boho style. I wore a simple black dress, strappy sandals, and a headband.
I tend to twiddle my fingers when I am having my picture taken...

Oh yes, how could I forget, I also wore my favorite feather earring which Hagen made from our own duck!

Look out, this boho hobo needs a ride!
~What She Wore~
dress- Ross $7
shoes- walmart $10
headband- made by me $0
earring- Christmas gift $0

Well, 17 bucks isn't too bad, right?

I hope you enjoyed seeing these outfits as much as we enjoyed wearing them!
Blessings,
Layla

What She Wore Wednesday- Maxi's

I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to make sure I posted about our Easter celebration before I moved on to the fashion!

On Sunday, Hagen and I both wore maxi's. I'll start off with Hagen's...

Hagen wore a green printed maxi dress, sequined shrug, brown flats and wooden bead necklace. I love how everything flows together!

This picture was taken outside of the cowboy church we visited on Sunday.

I really like this picture. It looks like she's a jungle princess! This is outside the Mexican Restaurant.

~What She Wore~
maxi dress- thrifted $5
green tank- thrifted $2
shrug- free from a friend
flats- free from a friend
necklace- from our late Grandma
hair flower- made by Layla

 Now it's my turn...
I wore a maxi skirt, a deep purple tank, tan crocheted shrug and roman sandals.

The maxi skirt is actually a funny story...
I was kinda stressing out about what I was going to wear for Easter, when Hagen dug out a maxi dress that neither of us have worn in a while. I was excited! When I went to try it on, I found that the zipper was stuck, and refused to budge. We all took turns yanking and prying on it, but that just made it worse! So, I resolved to turn it into a skirt.

I pulled out the sewing machine, and went through my mental checklist:
thread- check
bobbin thread- check
foot pedal- check
iron- check
elastic- check
pins- wait, where are the pins?

We searched and searched, but alas, no pins! I had to improvise. I ironed my seam down well, and used a few bobby pins to secure the fabric. It was a simple alteration, once I was able to do it. All in all, I was pleased with how it turned out!

~What I Wore~
maxi skirt from a dress- thrifted $5
tank- Target $2.50
shrug- free from friend
sandals- Walmart $10
lace headband- made by me

I hope you enjoyed this post. I am happy to be doing another What She Wore, it has been too long! And one more quick picture of us...

Praying that you are having a good week!
Blessings,
Layla <3

What She Wore Wednesday- {Rustic&Chic}

Hey There!
How have you been?
I am doing good, thanks for asking!

So, this weeks Wednesday post is not going to be what I wore, instead it will be what I wish I could wear!

This is my dream boho outfit, it is exactly what I envision! I love each of the items, I think they bring just the right balance of rustic and chic. What do you think?

Rustic&ChicRustic&Chic by blesseddamsel featuring free people skirt

I love skirt and the flowy top together. I really like the leather bag with the bit of crochet, it's rough meets dainty.

What are your favorite elements in this outfit?
Do you like the boho style?

I hope you enjoyed this twist to our usual Wednesday post!
Blessings,
Layla

What She Wore Wednesdays- Crochet Shrug

 Hello Y'all!
Now it's Hagen's turn to show off her feminine side...

I love how she paired this shrug with the long sleeved shirt. It's actually funny, she was just playing around with my clothes, slipped it on over her shirt, and said "How does this look?"
I said ((GASP)) "That is actually really cute! How come we didn't think of that before?"

The length of this jean skirt wasn't quite right, it cut her off at the wrong spot. So, she hemmed it and gave it a classic thick hem. It's much better now!

-What She Wore-
shirt: Wal-mart $3
crochet shrug: from a friend $0
skirt: from a friend $0
shoes: from a friend $0

Such a cute outfit for only 3 bucks... really?
We obviously have some good (and cute) friends!

Hoping you are having a wonderful Wednesday! We are looking forward to doing an extra long I <3 Thursdays post tomorrow. See ya then!
Blessings,
Layla

What She Wore Wednesdays- Floral Maxi

Alright, I promised you Matilda's outfit...
So, here it is!

This used to be my dress...
I was so sad when it got to small for me!
But, I am glad that I could pass it down to her,
She looks so cute in it!

Can you tell she was cold?
The sun was starting to set....

The colors look really good on her!

Dress- hand-me-down $0
 Shirt- from friend $0

Okay, so obviously we get a lot of our clothes from our friends... But $0... Seriously?

Oh and just to get you anxious, we have been sewing... Post to come soon!

Okay, so now I am rambling...
What did you think of 'Tilda's outfit?

Until next time,
        Blessing~ Hagen
